Was Fury’s exit the result of Dubois’ disrespectful entry into the ring?

Commentator Steve Bunce believes the reason Tyson Fury fled the ring immediately after the scores were announced in his loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night was because Daniel Dubois entered the ring.

An embarrassing sight

Bunce believes that when Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) saw IBF heavyweight champion Dubois enter the ring to call out Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), he didn’t want to stand and watch . This would have put Fury in an uncomfortable position and made him look bad.

It is unclear who decided to allow Dubois into the ring. Either way, they obviously didn’t think through how it would make Fury, the proud ex-WBC champion, look.

The high-ranking person who decided to let Dubois into the ring may have forgotten how that would set the Napoleonic fury in a humiliating position, ignored like driftwood. With this decision, the emperor was reduced to a secondary person.

This shouldn’t have happened because there were other ways to set up a Usyk vs. Dubois fight without Daniel entering the ring to call it out while Fury was still present.

It all seemed like an embarrassing circus. Dubois didn’t look comfortable calling Usyk, and was told to do so. He seemed to know it wasn’t right and seemed shy.

Dubois’ disrespectful gesture

“Dubois was in the ring and obviously trying to fight, but it was a little disrespectful. First of all, to Tyson Fury. Secondly, to Oleksandr Usyk, and thirdly to Joseph Parker, who he’s going to fight in February,” Carl Frampton told TNT sports boxingspeaking about the circus atmosphere immediately after the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch, where Daniel Dubois was allowed into the ring.

“I didn’t really like it. I understand why he does that, but it wasn’t my cup of tea,” Frampton said.

“I’m sure that’s why Fury left,” said commentator Steve Bunce, explaining why he thinks Tyson Fury fled the ring immediately after the fight. “You are in the ring, your Tyson Fury. You have been the king of the world for a long time. You are in the ring. The man who just beat you (Usyk) very close on points is here.

“You are standing in the ring. You’re applying for nothing other than to do an interview, and all of a sudden you see Dubois walk in, enter stage left, and jump right into the fray. If we can get another camera angle, I bet Tyson Fury will leave at some point during this first thing. He is standing in the ring. That’s how it works,” Bunce said.

“I know it’s 2-0, but it was so close and so controversial. There is a trilogy on the table. I think they have a third fight,” Bunce said about wanting a trilogy between Fury and Usyk next. “It’s still a massive fight before AJ. Have a third fight (with Oleksandr). He’s not going to be knocked out. The fight against AJ is still there. I think Fury is right when he says, “The AJ fight will be there no matter when it happens,” Bunce said.

Fury-Usyk weren’t controversial fights unless you’re a Fury fan. People didn’t consider any of these matches controversial. The only questionable thing about the first was the referee giving Fury an eight count in the ninth round while he was seriously injured.

There is almost no chance of a trilogy match between Usyk and Fury happening next as it is too risky for Tyson. He and his promoters won’t want to risk him being beaten a third time by Usyk and ruining the lucrative match with Anthony Joshua. Additionally, Turki Alalshikh said after the fight that he wants to set up a Joshua vs. Fury clash next. He didn’t say anything about setting up the trilogy.
